The wings Go Back Farther Than Any Other Symbol in Egypt. "They are Short Hand for the Divine" said Dr. Anastasia Dakouri-Haild of the UVA dept. of Art History. Originally they stood for Nekhbet, the original Egyptian god In Vulture form. Very "popular" in early southern Egypt. Dr.Dakuri-Hald, is an expert in Egyptology. She was kind enough to take time from her day to help me more fully understand what this wing thing is all about.
